Role of emerging terminologies

The Arts Therapies have their own specificity and integrative ability to combine the main methodologies related to the non-verbal communication that passes through the body and emotions and have demonstrated their benefit on the well-being of the person, on the improvement of the Immune system and on the development of resilience. These are indispensable factors, in addition to the educational, rehabilitative and therapeutic technical-health methods, to integrate the whole range of processes and cognitive psychological and emotional functions of the subjects. The new terminologies express the prospect of a constructive and fruitful collaboration between the two areas in respect of the world of art and that of therapy, for a desirable common study of language and the creative process, of the peculiar tools of each art for develop a process of transformation in the subjects. Central is the common reflection on body language, which represents the main expressive channel and cannot be eliminated in communication dynamics. The emotions conveyed by the artistic processes, wisely conducted, activate a process of awareness that has psychomotor, cognitive and implications, uses non-verbal codes to deepen self-knowledge and improves the ability to relate to others. This collaboration helps to welcome new existential contents by supporting the ability to be able to transform them into integrable codes, with one's own body, sensory and emotional language, in order to improve social awareness. It is especially important in the contemporary era to help the individual to grow and know through music, the expression of the body, the power of images and art and to represent the internal contents by dramatizing them creatively, to create socially empathetic and integrable scenarios , in a society in continuous expansion, which risks a sociological drift and an emotional illiteracy. Developing this deep self-awareness helps to clarify, expand and define the sense of self that emerges in experience and allows you to start freeing yourself from usual behavioral patterns, to promote autonomy of thought and good psycho-physical functioning (for social awareness means in particular cooperation, knowing how to give, receiving and sharing, knowing how to guide and entrust oneself, establishing adequate and non-invasive physical contacts, proposing and developing activities, knowing how to work in groups and in pairs, knowing how to get away from group or person).
